The author is careful to use language that is descriptive instead of prescriptive...the guidance and wisdom is still there for the taking; it's just not pushed on us...

The effectiveness of Mallard's presentation comes from...theplain language, that explains each philosophic concept inlayman's terms. Evident also is the knack for conveying truthsby means of vivid, concrete metaphors and engaging narratives(think parables).
